Two Taiwanese musicians, Ellen Chang and Stephanie Chang, are the
third generation of a family that pioneered the saxophone industry in Taiwan.
Their father , Anfree Chang and his family have hand - made musical instruments and been involved in musical affairs for over sixty years. In order establish their products as unique offering in the market they set out to develop high-quality instruments specializing in saxophones, they were well aware that pursuing such a working attitude would be a critical factor to lead Taiwanese hand-made saxophones to the world market. Thus, they created a distinctive Taiwanese family of saxophones and made sure that they passed on such attitudes and experiences to the new generation of the Chang family to ensure the continued success of the family business.
In the 2000 , Stephanie Chang continued in spirit of the family tradition to develop a truly unique Taiwanese saxophone offering and developed an innovation in musical industry that combined art with music, the " hand-painted " saxophone. The biggest challenge in offering such an instrument was the correct balance of art and music. After three years of development, the Chang family now introduces a new-style saxophone to the market that not only contains its original beautiful sound but also a beautifully decorated art work. The newly fashioned saxophone has already become popular in the whole world and is marketed to several countries including Japan, U.S.A., France, Germany, Spain, Switzerland, Australia, Canada, etc.
Each hand-painted saxophone is hand-made and requires 60 to 100 days to manufacture. T he process requires highly skilled craftsmanship and includes the steps of drawing, controlling temperature, fabricating, and testing the tone color. This new-style saxophone is a new art-form that combines a high-quality musical instrument with hand painted art work to decorate the instrument, and serves two art forms can meet for personal visional and acoustic perception.
